A BOSTON bowling club which aims to reduce social exclusion and promote healthy living has been handed a £500 award from one of the town’s housing associations.
Boston Mayflower gave the money to the Sleaford Road Bowling Club (SRBC) after tenants voted to do so.
The club is replacing the 70-year-old timber building it uses as its clubhouse with a new portable building - and will use Mayflower’s cash to help towards the project.
SRBC’s secretary Frances King said: “We are delighted to have received this support from Boston Mayflower.
”The housing association has also been working with the club to seek further funding for our project.
“The club wants to extend its services with events to embrace residents in the Staniland area and encourage participation in outdoor flat green bowling.
“The sport can be played by anyone aged 10 to 90, is ideal for families, and there is no discrimination.”
The club is actively seeking further funding from other local businesses in order to help bring its new clubhouse dream to fruition.
